Wolfram, creator of Mathematica, Wolfram|Alpha and the Wolfram Language, has an exciting opportunity for a Web Developer Intern to join its Web Development department. The company is looking for an energetic, motivated individual with strong interpersonal and communication skills to work on a wide variety of front-end projects.

Join the Web Production team and work in a flexible and fast-paced environment where you’ll help maintain our existing site and assist with building new ones. Our web developers work closely with project managers, designers, and the user experience and quality assurance groups to develop, test and deploy updates on a regular basis. The ideal candidate will have the ability to work independently and collaboratively . We are looking for a candidate with solid knowledge of front-end web development, including knowledge about current web standards and responsive web design. A successful intern for this team will also have interest in learning new web technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Writing well-designed, testable, efficient code using best web development practices
  • Creating website layouts/user interfaces using standard HTML/CSS practices
  • Cooperating with user experience and web designers to match functionality and visual design intent
  • Collaborating with quality assurance to ensure projects are properly tested prior to release
  • Working closely with project owners and your supervisor to prioritize the completion of tasks
  • Proactively managing the execution of projects to meet deadlines
  • Performing various duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • In-depth knowledge of modern HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • Proven working experience in web development
  • Proven ability to handle multiple projects and tasks simultaneously
  • Proven ability to interact with cross-functional teams (e.g. design and quality assurance)
  • Proven ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet goals/deadlines with accuracy and reliability
  • Experience with the Wolfram Language is a plus
  • Experience with JIRA or similar project management software is a plus
