Wolfram, creator of Mathematica, Wolfram|Alpha and the Wolfram Language, is looking for a Principal Consultant to join our Wolfram Solutions team. The primary role is to be a billable-to-customers consultant working on Wolfram|Alpha and Wolfram Language projects for enterprise customers. Ideal candidates will be able to assess customers’ businesses and problems, understand our proposed solutions and produce deliverables in a fast -paced environment.

Wolfram Solutions fosters a flexible environment that allows for independent responsibility and control, however, the Chief of Staff will work closely with and supervise consultants. Principal Consultants are expected to learn and participate in communication standards for customer-facing consultant work. Strong Mathematica and data analytics experience is preferred but not required. The ability to learn quickly both under good teachers and independently is the most important technical requirement.

Project types

  • Data science analysis to extract insight from data (descriptive, prescriptive and predictive analytics)
  • Modeling and simulation
  • Software development and engineering (Wolfram Language programming, infrastructure and deployment)
  • Deployment of algorithmic knowledge (from all of the Wolfram Language’s libraries, such as image processing, statistics, geospatial visualization and computation, etc.)
  • Creation of interactive documents (dashboards, reports and other e-publishing content)
  • Knowledge curation and linguistics (custom deployment of Wolfram|Alpha)

Requirements

  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Programming experience in one or several programming languages
  • Knowledge of Mathematica or the Wolfram Language
  • Research experience/teaching experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical or scientific field
  • PhD or master’s degree in a technical or scientific field is preferred
  • Open-minded in exploring new fields
  • Desire and drive to learn and self-educate
  • Self-motivated and self-disciplined
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to articulate ideas and instructions
  • Desire to work with clients on a daily basis
